STORY ABOUT FUTURE
VARIOUS THINGS
We came to the Centre for Autism knowing we wanted to work with a team that thinks outside of the box and possesses unique creative approach, completely independent of movements in contemporary art. We approached them as our colleagues. On the other hand, there was a certain social aspect developing through thinking about social entrepreneurship, people with special needs authors’ rights and number of other smaller and bigger problems we stumbled upon along the road. It was a combination of friendly work, real artistic collaboration and a wish to help each potential creator that is not a part of our reality. We who belong to this reality learned a lot from them. Every hour spent with them opened our eyes and connected us on a basic, human level. Expectations and prejudices soon fell apart; their warmth was faster than our fears.
Above all, we wanted to create works in an open and pure manner with people we thought were extremely talented and interesting. This does not mean there are no other such people in the Centre. We wanted the Centre to become aware of various possibilities of using these works in promotion, design or any other aspect that would entice the constant run of production. This would aid generation of means for some new working materials or education and would be a great contribution to emancipation of the Centre’s protégés. Because of this, some works can be treated as prototypes that may lead to well-designed, commercial products. This would certainly elevate production to another level, because in the process the Centre would be able to build a recognisable workshop that affirms its users creatively, but also economically.
From the very beginning we have felt artists’ visual diversity, confirmed by their final collection of works. Warm, sweet Jere with a sum of everything that makes life good: nature, food and nice lighting. Ivan, seemingly objective, but actually emotional individual, and his snake of life entering real events and projections, wishes and facts. Gentle Ranko’s work reminding us of the importance of mutual support, love for animals and music. Finally, Gabi presents herself as a shaman with her collection of instructions for self-analysis and inventions for improvement of life. We just followed them and enjoyed. Nothing more was really necessary.
