For the past 4 months, Ahmet Tulicelik, a postgraduate student at the Art Academy of Trabzon University from Turkey, participated in our volunteer program through the Erasmus program. HULU member Petar Grimani mentored the art project, which we present as a conclusion to Ahmet's stay in Croatia and his volunteering at the association's exhibition program.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
This art installation represents a step forward from his traditional sculptural expression into multimedia. Ahmet only speaks Turkish and Kurdish, and he used a translation app for communication, which influenced the specificity of the interaction and was reflected in the work itself, which we are presenting in his mentor's studio.
\nU\u011fur Do\u011faner, a video artist from Turkey, and Ahmet jointly developed the initial idea and concept for a video installation but have not yet realized it, mainly due to their separation, as U\u011fur resides in Berlin. With his arrival in Split and work with a mentor, Ahmet has gained the opportunity to realize the work.<\/div>\n

\u201cThe best example of Kurdish culture, art, and literature, which has been oral for thousands of years, is the tradition of Dengbeja. Dengb\u00e9j, which has spread orally for thousands of years and continues to exist very strongly today, means \u201cone who speaks.\u201d Dengb\u00eaj literally means giving shape, life, and color to sound. Dengb\u00eajs, which form the basic infrastructure of Kurdish culture and enable\u00a0<\/em>Thousands of years of Kurdish literature to survive, return listeners to thousands of years of history with the \u201cKlame\u201d they sing. In that respect, it has the feature of conveying historical events alongside its literary aspect. Dengbejs: They conveyed the beauties of nature, the bitter and sweet things people must say, their stories, their secret loves, their struggles and betrayals, their courage and heroism to those who listen. Moreover, they have the characteristic of conveying historical events that affect society in a literary manner. These transmissions are integrated with song and speech. A dengbej is not limited to singing but also uses verbal transmission in the song. Written sources among the Kurds have not been found before Islam. However, the Dengbejs are the main reason for the intensive use of the Kurdish language despite the absence of writing and the lack of documentation of Kurdish history and literature. The concept of memory in the modern world is shaped within the framework of computers, while the memory of the pre-literate world is shaped within the framework of oral literature. Today, computers are where all the world's written archives are stored. Once, it was books. In earlier times, tablets were the way to record events in someone's memory, and even further back. The strongest memory of the Kurds is the Dengb\u00eaj. When we build a bridge from the present to the past, we can say that the ancient Greek Homer was the first dengb\u00eaj.\u201d\u00a0<\/em>\u2013 from the artist's statement<\/div>\n

Ahmet Tulicelik<\/strong> He was born in Diyarbakir in 1994. He moved to Elazig in 2006 and continued his education in Elazig.
\nIn 2014, he won the position of painting instructor at F\u0131rat University.
\nIn 2019, she began her master's degree in the Painting and Sculpture department at Trabzon University.
\nIn 2019, he studied sculpture in the studio of artist R\u00fc\u00e7han Ke\u00e7eci.<\/div>\n
