The programme is taking place in the central exhibition spaces in Split protected as cultural heritage – Salon Galić( national heritage) and Diocletian’s Substructures (UNESCO world heritage).
SALON GALIĆ
Gallery Salon Galić opened as a private gallery on May 31, 1924 and it was the only art gallery in Split between the two world wars. At that period, Salon Galić had a truly cult status as the main and only art space in Split that gathered entire intellectual elite from painters, writers, philosophers, historians etc. Some of the most renowned Croatian artists exhibited their works in this gallery. The original owner of Salon Galić, Mr. Ivan Galić passed away in 1961 and he donated the gallery altruistically to city of Split for the future generation of artists. Salon Galić, being the oldest gallery in Split, was also proclaimed as a cultural good by the Ministry of Culture.
Salon Galić is centrally located in Marmont Street and it continually hosts a calendar of exhibitions, which change every two- three weeks, and is the perfect place to check out the works of local and international contemporary artists that specialize in a variety of mediums.
