Splitski salon je izložba suvremene umjetnosti koja se u neravnomjernom ritmu anualnih i bijenalnih događanja održava od 1969. godine.

Splitski salon je u prošlosti bio tradicionalna godišnja izložba recentnih uradaka članova HDLU Split. Ta tipično salonska pozicija zadovoljavala je interes građana tijekom sedamdesetih i osamdesetih godina. Rane devedesete su unijele duh sakralnosti kao kontrapunkt kaotičnoj zbilji. A onda je napetost popustila, salon je polako krenuo putem svoga kraja, pa se tako 2000. godine našao tek kao reminiscencija blistave prošlosti. U novo smo stoljeće poletjeli kratkim uzletom i naglo pali. Tako je 2002. godina protekla, a da se nitko nije upitao:”Gdje je Splitski salon?”

Evo, prošlo je desetljeće od 33. “prevratničkog” Salona. Duhovi su smireni, sve ide svojim tijekom i opet se nitko ne pita ništa. Računa li se nervoza izlagača na ovogodišnjem salonu kao dio neke opće napetosti ili je kreativna strategija ukupne umjetnosti tek dašak na nizbrdici političko gospodarske zbilje? I je li umjetnik ikakav faktor (osim što je Ivan Faktor) u suvremenoj zajednici produktivnih ljudi ili je okrajak okrajka na vertikali uvažavanja? Danas je kultura istoznačnica za umjetnost, to je fakat.
Davno je umjetnost bila ujedno i znanost. To je povijesna činjenica. Kad je tomu tako, budimo znanstveno kulturni i jednim smo hicem ubili dvije muhe.

Hoću reći, umjetnost se i ove godine kroz salon pokazuje potentnom i u najmanju ruku jednakovrijednom bijedi i sjaju ukupne produkcije grupe ljudi koja sebe naziva društvom, ma što to značilo.

Nadalje, umjetnik puca iz dva pištolja, a kad to izvodi istovremeno (što je bingo), učinak je strašan, mijenja se ukupna paradigma. Učili smo to iz povijesti, zar ne?

38. Splitski salon pokušava (što je misija) usmjeriti vodu na svoj mlin, jer taj mlin ne “trokira” nego uvijek i iznova hrani napaćeno tijelo i izgubljenu dušu (što je vizija).

Eto, tu je Splitski salon!

Split Salon is an exhibition of contemporary art that has been held, in a somewhat uneven rhythm of annual and biennial events, since 1969.

Split Salon was once a traditional annual exhibition of recent works by the members of the Croatian Association of Artists in Split. That typical salon like position met the interest of the citizens during the seventies and eighties. Early nineties introduced the spirit of sacredness as a counterpoint to the chaotic reality. And then the tension eased, Salon was slowly coming to its end, and in the year 2000 it was just a shadow of its glorious past. We entered the new century with a short burst of success and fell abruptly. And the year 2000 went by without anyone asking: “Where is the Split Salon?”

So there you go; it has been a decade since the 33rd “revolutionary” Salon. Spirits have calmed down, everything goes as planned and, once again, nobody wonders about anything. Is the nervousness of the exhibitors at this year’s Salon a part of some general tension or is the overall creative art strategy but a breeze on the downward spiral of political and economic reality? And is the artist a factor of any importance (besides being Ivan Faktor) in a modern community of productive people or is s/he the least of the least on the scale of appreciation? Nowadays, culture is a synonym for art; it is a fact.
Long time ago, art was also a science. That is a historical fact. Since this is so, let us be scientifically cultural and we will have killed two birds with one stone.

What I meant to say is that this year, once again, art has proven to be potent and at least equivalent to the “poverty and shine” of the total production of a group of people that calls itself society, whatever that might be.

Furthermore, the artist shoots from two guns, and when s/he does it simultaneously (and that’s a bingo), the effect is tremendous, a paradigm shift occurs. We learned that in history class, didn’t we?


The 38th Split Salon tries (the mission) to bring grist to its mill, because that mill does not “sputter”, always and again it feeds the agonized body and lost soul (the vision).

And thus, we present you the Split Salon!
