Croatian Association of Fine Artists (HULU-Split)
announces an exhibition call for entries
u SALON GALIĆ in 2021
The tender is open from June 17 to July 19, 2020.
About Salon Galić
Salon Galić began its exhibition activities in 1924 and today represents a cult spot of artistic life in Split. The salon was founded by Ivan Galić (1884-1961), in whose honor the gallery still bears his name today. Salon Galić was the only art exhibition space in Split in the period between the two world wars, and many prominent 20th-century artists have exhibited there throughout history. After the death of Ivan Galić in 1961, the management of Salon Galić was taken over by the Croatian Association of Visual Artists, which has continuously managed the gallery for 59 years. In 2014, by decision of the Directorate for the Protection of Cultural Heritage of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Croatia, Salon Galić, as the oldest gallery in Split, was declared a cultural asset.
Today, the core of the exhibition program at Salon Galić consists of recent artistic productions by domestic and international artists in the field of contemporary art (video works, paintings, prints, performances, installations, photographs, sculptures, objects, etc.). In addition to the exhibition part, the program also includes educational discursive activities, artistic residencies, and collaborations and networking with domestic and foreign associations and organizations in the field of contemporary art.
