We are pleased to invite you to the exhibition ‘‘Memogram’‘ young Koprivnica author Ivana Gundulić. Exhibition organized by HULU opens in Split Salon Galić on Friday, March 18 at 7:00 PM, and can be viewed until April 4, 2022.
Ivan Gundić's work deals with themes of memory, language, society, ideology, and identity. He shows a particular interest in experimenting with the medium of photography itself, alternative conceptions of photographic processes and techniques, as well as in combining photography with other media.
Exhibition Memorygram Gundić questions the relativity of the idea of value using the example of familial memory. Through an interdisciplinary and multimedia approach, the author depicts the melting of black and white gelatin family photographs. The action of a concentrated sodium solution reduces them to the elementary level of pure silver, which is then shaped into a coin through a pressing process. The author documents the process of transforming memory, in this case from a photograph to a coin, through photography, video, and authentic objects. This is an exhibition of works created as part of the author's thesis.

”As the starting point for the Memogram work, I use a family archive of black and white gelatin silver photographs taken before my birth. Using an interdisciplinary and multimedia approach, I depict the melting of silver layers from family photographs, which I then transform into a metal coin through a chemical process in the laboratory. With its mass of approximately one gram, it is simultaneously worthless and priceless because the value of the coin as a new referent to family history is not monetary, but mnemonic. Within my own family history, I examine the position of the medium of photography as a mnemonic tool that mediates the preservation of memory, but at the same time records mortality and transience. Photographs as objects that evoke memory may last a long time, but certainly not forever, and reducing them to the elemental substance of silver, which continues to function as a memory object, means making them eternal.”
