IN THE ARTISTIC SECTION AND CURATORIAL SECTION

The deadline to apply is 15. travnja 2026.,a sudjelovanje na natječaju se ne naplaćuje.

The annual membership fee is 15 EUR.

Hrvatska udruga likovnih umjetnika-Split (HULU-Split) okuplja profesionalne likovne, multimedijalne i interdisciplinarne umjetnike iz cijele Hrvatske. Osim umjetničkih sekcija, unutar redovnog članstva djeluje i kustoska sekcija koja okuplja povjesničare umjetnosti, kustose, likovne kritičare, teoretičare umjetnosti  i ostale likovne stručnjake.

Prijava za članstvo podnosi se isključivo u elektroničkom obliku.

Iznimno, redovitim članom HULU-a može postati i osoba bez odgovarajućeg obrazovanja.

About the Croatian Association of Visual Artists

HULU-Split, the national professional association based in Split, brings together professional fine artists, multimedia artists, and interdisciplinary artists from all over Croatia.

The regular membership of the association consists of art sections: painting, sculpture, multimedia, and interdisciplinary sections. In addition to the art sections, the curatorial section also operates within the regular membership, bringing together art historians, curators, art critics, art theorists, and other art experts.

HULU currently brings together over 500 members from all over Croatia, providing them with a range of services, including issuing free certificates for tax reliefs and other administrative certificates, informing them about calls for proposals, organizing consultations and training, providing technical and professional assistance in organizing exhibitions, representing their interests, and helping them achieve the status of independent artists with the Croatian Association of Independent Artists (HZSU).

The association organizes annual solo exhibition programs, initiates larger group exhibition and performance projects, and provides co-organizational assistance to other institutions, associations, and festivals.

Over its eight decades of existence, HULU has actively promoted visual arts, protected artists' freedom, developed collaborations, educated the public, and participated in shaping regulations related to visual creation and the protection of artists' moral and material rights.

Who can become a Hulu member?

Any adult with full legal capacity can become a regular member of HULU-Split. Citizen of the Republic of Croatia or a foreign citizen residing in the Republic of Croatia, it meets the following special conditions:

FOR ARTISTIC SECTIONS: 

Condition: GRADUATED FROM AN ART ACADEMY / ACADEMY OF FINE ARTS, Croatian or foreign with a recognized diploma, with the title of:

  • academic painter, Master of Painting, Doctor of Arts in Painting, academic graphic artist, Master of Graphic Arts, Doctor of Arts in Graphic Arts, university specialist in graphic arts
  • academic sculptor, master of sculpture, doctor of arts in sculpture, master of sculpture – specialist
  • Master of Animated Film and New Media, Master of Film, Media Art and Animation, Master of Media Arts
  • Mag. art. and Mag. paed. – Professor of Art Education and Fine Arts, Master of Art Education and Fine Arts
  • mag.art.- magistar/magistra  konzervacije i restauracije

FOR THE CURATORIAL SECTION:

Requirement: COMPLETED STUDY OF ART HISTORY, Croatian or foreign with a certified diploma with the title:

  • Master of Art History
  • Master of Art Education
  • Doctor of Philosophy in Art History

Exceptionally, a person who does not have the appropriate education may also become a regular member of HULU-Split, provided they meet the following formal requirements:

  • For artistic sections: at least three solo exhibitions in recognized gallery spaces in the Republic of Croatia and/or a recommendation from a recognized expert in the field of visual arts.
  • For the curatorial section: at least three publicly published expert texts and/or recommendations from a recognized expert in the field of visual arts.

– University bachelor's degrees pri prijavi na natječaj smatraju se kandidatima bez formalnog obrazovanja. Kandidati bez odgovarajućeg obrazovanja podliježu dodatnoj evaluaciji kvalitete od strane Stručne komisije.

– Diplomas from private educational institutions koje nisu priznate kao akademske ustanove u sustavu visokog obrazovanja u Republici Hrvatskoj, kao ni strane diplome koje nisu nostrificirane, ne udovoljavaju uvjetima traženog formalnog obrazovanja. Kandidati s takvim diplomama pri prijavi na natječaj smatraju se kandidatima bez formalnog obrazovanja.

STUPANJEM U ČLANSTVO STJEČU SE SLJEDEĆA PRAVA 

  • right to tax relief for artistic works in accordance with the laws
  • right to pension supplement recommendations
  • right to recommendations for obtaining workspaces/studios or residency programs
  • right to an assessment of work when applying for membership in HZSU (Croatian Association of Independent Artists)
  • The right to free or preferential entry into gallery spaces in Croatia
  • the right to an unlimited number of membership certificates from an artistic professional association free of charge
  • the right to participate in tenders requiring membership in a professional association
  • the right to participate in tenders for activities intended only for regular members
  • Right to issue certificates for the sale of artworks
  • right to representation on the HULU Split website
  • right to information about the association's activities and operations
  • assistance in case the copyright and moral rights of members are infringed
  • Advantage for exhibition in HULU spaces in accordance with the Rules of Procedure of the Artistic Council
  • other rights arising from the Statute of the association

NAČIN I ROK PRIJAVE

Prijava u članstvo se podnosi isključivo elektronskim putem:

Razmatrat će se samo prijave pristigle putem online obrazaca, koje sadrže sve tražene elemente i koje su podnesene u roku. Rok za prijavu je 15.travnja 2026. do 23:59 h.

COMPETITION RESULTS

Rezultati natječaja biti će objavljeni u roku od  45 dana od završetka natječaja i kandidati će o tome biti obaviješteni putem maila.

Komisija za prijem novih članova, u sastavu Dora Derado, Edvin Dragičević, Kristijan Falak, Petar Katavić i Đani Martinić, razmatrat će umjetničku kvalitetu prijava kandidata koji ne ispunjavaju uvjete formalnog obrazovanja. Komisija za prijem u članstvo nije dužna obrazlagati odluku prijaviteljima.
